Book Review of "The Mapmakers" by Tamzin Merchant

Makers,unite......Magic,Ignite.......
The Mapmakers is a swashbuckling sequel to the Hatmakers by Tamzin Merchant. Everyone said her father Prospero Hatmaker was dead after his ship the Jolly Bonnet was wrecked but Cordelia Hatmaker thought otherwise. When Jack, the cabin boy and the only known survivor of the shipwreck gives her a telescope her father had asked him to give to her, Cordelia finds a map inside it with a riddle. When trying to decode the riddle, Cordelia stumbles upon the society of the Mapmakers. They are a secret society and are unknown to the Hatmakers, the Bootmakers, the Cloakmakers, the Watchmakers, the Canemakers and the Glovemakers.  But danger is lurking everywhere. Cordelia has to save magic before all the magical places of the world are destroyed by the Evil Lord Witloof. When Lord Witloof destroys all the places except the Elixir Oak , which is the source of magic, it is up to Cordelia to unite the makers and protect magic so it doesn't fall in the wrong hands.

So, This book was intriguing and kept me captivated through the pages. Her woe after the loss of both her parents who she was very connected to was poignant. I was surprised at the speed with which Cordelia was galvanized to find her father after she obtained the map her father had been longing to give to her. I was astonished by how calm and courageous she was while wandering around London all alone and fighting iniquitous villains who send shivers down your spine. The way that the society was divided into makers and how each of them had unique magical powers made the novel very appealing to me. The book also tested my ability to control my emotions as one moment it was happy , then it suddenly turned sad and scary but before you could get too much of these emotions it became electrifyingly adventurous. So, it was like an emotional roller coaster. Overall, I could say that this book would be perfect to make your boring day thrilling. Find a commodious couch and start reading. Stay updated till I post my next blog. Abracadabra! Bye!
