Andaman(A Perfect Destination):Part 1:Havelock-Day 3

 Andaman(A Perfect Destination):Part 1:Havelock

Day 3:Otherworldy

I woke up at 4:30 in the morning after lots of refusing to wake up, shivering and teeth chattering but I managed to become brisk. I was excited and I know today was going to be another level because I was going to Scuba dive for the first time in my life. We reached the diveshop,Frogman Adventures, where we had booked our dive. So first from the shop, we took a small stroll to Govind Nagar beach. We kept walking into the beach until we reached the place were water was till the height of my chest. A diver who was going to be accompanying us taught us the underwater hand signals and how to use the scuba equipment. There was an extremely cool high pressure button which removes water from your mouth if you accidentally drink it.A thought crossed my mind and I grinned as I wanted to drink sea water just to try out the buttonInitially, I was struggling with not being able to breathe through my nose and only through my mouth during training and was under the impression that I would flop it but once I did it perfectly, I felt like a certified scuba diver. After we completed our training, we hopped aboard a motor boat and sped to the Nemo Reef.

Well, I'm going to be honest with you guys, diving by being flipped from the boat backward was my biggest fear in the experience but it was way easier than I thought. It was a very weird feeling and felt like escaping reality. One second I was falling, the other I was swirling in the water and finally I was floating. The diver who came with me checked on me and got me ready for the dive. First,we went under the water for 2 minutes to make sure I could manage it, then we started the dive which went on for about 45 great minutes. It was an amazing experience and the dictionary does not have enough words to describe it but I will do my best. It was an otherworldy experience. Beneath the endless infinite dull pasture of blue a kingdom lies. Not appreciated enough and remains unexplored. Most people might find the ocean a big place to dump their waste or play with their friends but a colourful reef of corals of all vibrant colours resides beneath. Small, large, dull, flamboyant, they all host as a home to fish, some transparent, some black with shining blue tails, some alone, some in groups.I saw so many fish and corals and knew this experience was something that was once in a lifetime. Our photos were taken with a GoPro and the experience was epic and I have  no clue how to convey it to you.

You will understand only when you try out this experience yourself.I saw zebra fish, clown fish,a long fish which surrounded me all over with hundreds of its friends, I saw all most 20 other types of fishes. Maybe all of them recognized me as a superhero and crowded around me.Well they wouldn't be the first.I wondered whether they have to study or go to office. But, I'm sure they don't have to paint their houses as it is already colourful. They don't have to make their beds or brush their teeth.Lucky fishes, what a carefree life. After the dive, we went back to the boat and reached shore. After some rest we went to Kalapathar Beach, my favorite beach yet. It was almost completely transparent, extremely less crowded and was the coolest beach yet. The water color was evidently varying and if there were a bunch of corals and fishes. You could have seen a fish 20 feet under the water from a boat at the top. We chilled there for about 3 hours in the water and did not at all notice time fly by. It was wonderful and I completely regretted not bringing my snorkeling kit as I could have swum till the place where corals were with it.After that, we returned to our room and were watching movies on my laptop. Tomorrow was going to be a new day in a new island so I slept with the hope that I would get as much rest as I could.

  3. Superb Sid!!!

You reminded me of my visit to Andaman. Can totally relate to the excitement and that overwhelming tiredness at the end of the day… not knowing what to see and what to miss… every day giving us a new memory to carry for the rest of our lives.

I liked the fact that you kept your blog true to your feelings and the excitement about what really mattered to you.

From the trekking trail you chose, to the beaches so clear and far, the feeling of being a kid denied control of a jet ski, to the pizza and making papadi a state dish ( agreed on that one :D), and of course, to the once-in-a-lifetime experience of scuba diving..

Felt like being in Andaman again..

I’ll be looking forward to your next update
