 Andaman(A Perfect Destination):Part 2:Neil

Day 2-Bharatpur,Sunset and Stargazing

After a wonderful day at Bharatpur Beach the previous day, I couldn't think of anything but going back there again. My parents were in a similar position. So, we went to Bharatpur Beach but not with swimsuits but books. We had a peaceful quite time reading our books for about 2 hours. I was reading Andaman Adventure by Deepak Dalal which was the reason why I was in Andaman. That was the particular book I learnt about Andaman in, and I wanted to read it again. I could imagine all the places I had visited in it. I am not going to lie, I can wholeheartedly say Deepak Dalal did justice to the Andamans. Bharatpur Beach was the perfect setting to read. It was calm and filled with lovely people who don't pester you to buy their products. It was filled with trees and greeneries.Sitting on the beach chairs with a cool and soft breeze flowing around your body was just an amazing feeling. It was a very different experience as I had come from Bangalore, one of the world's most traffic containing city which was exceedingly loud. But this quietness and peace was extremely unusual but a lovely feeling for me.

It was a wonderful reread and it was with that I found inner peace in Bharatpur Beach. But I couldn't stand the sight of Bharatpur Beach for a long time without jumping in. I didn't get swimshorts, nor was I patient enough to go back to the room.I was actually wearing my white shorts which aren't supposed to be used for sports or swimming but I dived in with them and returned to the room dripping wet after yet a wonderful bath in Neil Island.

Then, we went to Sunset View Point where we took some photos but couldn't see a sunset because of the clouds about whom I have reason to believe are against me. A 2nd missed sunset, that's a streak. After spending some time in "Cloud View Point" we stayed back for some stargazing. The star gazing was not as cool as I expected because you couldn't see the surface of far away planets but just their body in a small size but you could see the moon up really large with craters visible all over. It was worth it just for the view of the moon.

But something happened right in between the experience which spoiled my day. My marks had come out and I had scored lesser than my friend.I was very miserable` as I had a competition with him before the exams to see who got higher and he had beaten me in most of the subjects.I had an ambivalent feeling . I decided to flush my emotions down till my vacation ended.  We returned to our room and downloaded lots and lots of comedy videos in my laptop using the hotel's wi-fi that their internet connection would have gotten over. That kind of compensated for all my "despair" if you can call it that. We saw the comedy videos and slept. The next day, I knew Sitapur Beach had beautiful pebbles so I collected flat and smooth ones. I had a plan to paint on them, sell them and donate the money but little did I know these pebbles were not allowed on the flight so I couldn't take them back to paint.

  1. Hey Sid,
I really enjoyed reading your blog. It felt like a genuine and refreshing exploration of the Andamans. It’s always a pleasure for me to read something based on personal travel and real observations.

You’ve done a great job👌 exploring the beautiful islands, and I’m genuinely eager to read more—especially if you get a chance to write about the Nicobar Islands, Andaman Jail, and dive deeper into the native tribes, their culture, and their food habits, both those that still exist and those that have faded over time.

Also, try to blog separately on how life has changed in the Tsunami surviving islands. That would be such a meaningful and powerful read.

Keep writing! Looking forward to your next post.
