My Opinion
Long Way Home was as expected a phenomenal book. I was at the library when I picked up the book and didn't leave until I finished it. As usual, my favourite author, Michael Morpurgo delivered his story perfectly. I loved all the tiny tiny details that revealed the characters feelings and how deep you could connect and feel what the characters felt. I was surprised by how well a simple plot was turned into a remarkable read. The book was deeply connecting as you felt pity for George but as the story moves on you start feeling happy for him. I think what made this really amazing was the character transformation. George was initially feeling uncomfortable but he slowly started to feel like he was part of the family. Meanwhile ,Tom changes from hating George to becoming George's best friend. The transformation adds on a lot to the story. I also loved how the story was written from multiple point of views so you could understand each of the main characters with immense clarity. Overall, this is one of Michael Morpurgo's best and underrated books and definitely deserves an award.
