My Mandaragiri Trek
My Mandaragiri Trek
A fun trek would be a nice time pass on a boring and sleepy Saturday , right?
That’s exactly what we(my mother,my father and I of course) did.We decided to go on a trek to Savandurga hills but we found out that it was very difficult. So we went trekking in Mandargiri hills which was easier.I had kept my expectations real low but it turned to be a very very nice adventure.
An early morning for saturday I woke up at 7,I quickly changed on to some comfortable trekking wear and sunglasses. It was a 2 hour drive from my house to Mandargiri in Tumkur. It was a long drive and I kept pestering my parents asking them when we would reach. We finally arrived in front of the mountain.I bet my father that I would reach the Peak in 3 minutes. He told if I was superman I could reach in 5 minutes. The mountain was towering above us and a nice breeze ran around the mountain keeping the mountain cool which was a nice temperature to Trek.I climbed ¾ of the mountain and ended up waiting awestruck by the view of other humongous Mountains of different shapes and sizes, green lushy farmlands and a bustling city below us.We reached the peak and the view was beautiful as I felt like I was on the top of the earth. The wind was racing around the mountain making my hair go up.I almost thought the wind was getting ready to bring some rain, till a light sunshine came but the wind never stopped running.Once we got to the top I looked upon the city down and felt so tall and energetic because I was in such an Altitude. There was also a Jain temple on the 81 feet high peak. The temple had many statues of monks which were different to me and also had artificial trees.I went running to the other side of the mountain when my father and mother told there was a lake view.It was a steep but easy down trek to the cliff of the mountain which was nearest to the lake.Once I stood on the cliff,I felt like out of all the lakes I’ve seen this one is the one which actually felt like a magical lake which I would never forget. It kept on going on and on and was endless. It felt like something out of a greeting card’s image of a sea below a huge cliff but the only difference was that there was a lake.
I got many photos there and enjoyed the breeze. Unfortunately after spending 2 hours it just felt like 2 minutes. We had to go back down because of a slight drizzle. The drizzle stopped when we got down.My parents went to the Jain temple downhill.I waited outside as I am not a kind of person who believes in god but I regretted not going when my mother and father told it didn’t feel like a temple and was a different experience. After sometime they returned and I had a bottle of mountain dew which was refreshing after a hike in a scorching heat.On the way back home,I ate an ice cream.
It was a very nice experience and I will go to many treks like this and one day when I climb Savandurga I will think why didn’t I go on such an easy trek.
