Monsoon Diary Entry
Lately, I have been researching about the southwest monsoon and I decided to give you guys my information in the form of a diary entry.
Monsoon Diary Entry
I am the southwest monsoon wind.As my name suggests, I originate in the southwest part of India. I originate from the Arabian Sea.Land heats up faster than water. When the land near the Arabian Sea heats up , it causes the heat to spread making the air around it warm. The warm air rises up as warm air is lighter than cold air. Temperature decreases with altitude. When the warm air rises up, it starts becoming colder and denser. Meanwhile, the land starts getting filled up with the moist sea air as the land has lesser pressure. The warm air which went upward to cool down comes back down to the sea as rain. This cycle keeps repeating multiple times. You might think that the water might keep going back to the sea but that is where I come in. I blow the clouds towards India causing rain all the way to the Himalayas. After that my best friend, the Northwest monsoon, takes care of the rains after that. Guess What, My birth date keeps changing every year but it is always in June when I start to blow. I get to make Indians happy on my birthday , what a lovely present!!As usual I always start with India’s most educated state and God’s own country Kerala.
I am a boon to India in many ways. I provide all the water for agriculture as I am the one who works so hard to push the clouds from the Arabian Sea to India but everyone credits the rain and prays to him. What a credit hogger๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ .
I also make children happy by giving them rain in which they can play and also get holidays on school days. Even despite being one of the most valuable assets in India’s long list of weather phenomena, I also cause disasters but they are played down by people so my respect is retained. I flood cities causing many properties to be destroyed and many people to die. The floods also interrupt the day-to-day work and education of adults and kids.
I am one of the oldest weather phenomena who has been around for multiple millennials but climate change has made me slightly unpredictable and irregular. My starting and ending timing keeps changing these days, sometimes by a huge margin. I also give very less rain in some places of India causing the others to over flood. These careless humans have polluted so much that global warming is affecting one of the oldest and strongest weather phenomena ever.
Overall, I am very important to India. I am both a boon and curse but I would like to conclude asking humans to be as careful to the environment as they are to their phones, laptops and TV’s then the world would be a better place.
