Book Review Of Where The River Takes Us by Lesley Parr
Where the River Takes Us
Where the River Takes Us is an emotional book by Lesley Parr which talks about a beast. There is a reward of money for whoever gets a photograph of the beast. But for Jason, an orphan, it’s not just a quest with his friends but a way for him and his brother,Richie, to stay together. They don't have enough money and that's the only way Jason and Richie can live with each other.Jason sets off on a journey with his 3 friend Tam, Jinx and Catrin following the river north to photograph the beast.
First I want to start by saying, I didn't want to read the book as the title made it sound like a poem but I can tell you that it changed my mind. It was a wonderfully written book and didn't seem like a fantasy so I got that little connection with the character as it was very relatable because of his connection with his friends and how they manage to get themselves into trouble while having fun. His connection with his brother was extremely realistic and how they stuck up after their parents died and how they worked so hard to get to live together was kind of fascinating. Overall, I found it as an unique book as a genre like this is typically not for children as it talks a lot about family but it was written for all ages and I would like to tell people who haven't read this yet to read it as soon as you can or your really missing out.
