People Of Andaman

Image
People Of Andaman img:Andaman Tourist Tribe Andaman , is a heavenly paradise on earth, a perfect destination for avid travellers and one of India's places with most diversity. In this blog, I am going to explain to you about all the people of Andaman and their cultures. As I stayed in Andaman, I got to know lot about its cultural diversity. When I visited Neil Island, I found out that it was predominantly filled with descendants of  Hindu Bangladeshis, who had settled in Andaman during the Bangladesh partition. Due to their religious persecution, they seem to be people who worship a lot. I could see that each and every house had its own temple right next to it.  Coming from an urban area, I was surprised that Bangalore, despite being much larger, has only as many temples as Neil Island. When I asked around to find more information, I found out that most of the people in Neil Island were related to each other and the government had given each family 10 acres of land in Ne...

Book Review Of Echo Mountain By Lauren Wolk Summary Ellie and her family are forced to move to Echo Mountain after losing almost everything except their lives in the Great Depression. They get used to the mountain life  and everything finally starts to go well until Ellie's world turns upside down during her father's accident. He goes into coma and the doctor says he might never wake up again. While she tries to find a cure by herself, she meets Cate, an outcast witch who everyone calls the hag and a wild mountain boy named Larkin. Ellie learns to become a healer to save her father. My Opinion Echo Mountain is a wonderful book. Usually, I don't prefer to read extremely slow stories but Lauren Wolk's fascinating book changed my mind. It was wonderful and the display of each and every emotion was descriptive and so well written that the reader could feel it. I love how Ellie keeps trying no matter what hurdles she faces from others and no matter what her family says. Her...

Andaman(A Perfect Destination):Part 3:Portblair-Day 1,2,3

Andaman(A Perfect Destination):Part 3:Portblair Day-1-Cellular Jail We left from Neil Island a bit before lunchtime. We grabbed the ferry after getting drenched in the stormy rains of Neil Island. The ship was rocking and rolling like it was going on Bengaluru roads and trust me that's extremely harsh and uneven. I throwed up twice and I was feeling extremey cold as I was already wet and air conditioning was on.I was drenched and extremely annoyed but reaching Port Blair helped me throw away the angriness. We took a cab and reached Hotel Shompen. The rooms were extremely cosy and I was resting by watching "the world's greatest cartoon" Chota Bheem. It was extremely fun to watch and when we decided to leave for Cellular Jail, I had an extremely sentimental departure with the Laddoo King. We reached Cellular Jail about 20 minutes later. It was an architectural marvel but little did I know there were years of misery and pain hidden behind the building. We went through the...

Andaman(A Perfect Destination):Part 2:Neil Day 2-Bharatpur,Sunset and Stargazing                After a wonderful day at Bharatpur Beach the previous day, I couldn't think of anything but going back there again. My parents were in a similar position. So, we went to Bharatpur Beach but not with swimsuits but books. We had a peaceful quite time reading our books for about 2 hours. I was reading Andaman Adventure by Deepak Dalal which was the reason why I was in Andaman. That was the particular book I learnt about Andaman in, and I wanted to read it again. I could imagine all the places I had visited in it. I am not going to lie, I can wholeheartedly say Deepak Dalal did justice to the Andamans. Bharatpur Beach was the perfect setting to read. It was calm and filled with lovely people who don't pester you to buy their products. It was filled with trees and greeneries.Sitting on the beach chairs with a cool and soft breeze flowing around your...

Andaman(A Perfect Destination):Part 2:Neil-Day 1

Image
Andaman(A Perfect Destination):Part 2:Neil Day 1-The Best Beach Ever? Post-catching the ferry after a sentimental goodbye to Havelock, we reached Neil Island within 45 minutes. We got down on a bridge in the sea leading to the mainland. When I stared down at the beach , the water was so clear that I saw 25% of the fishes , I'd seen at the Scuba Dive from the surface. We took an auto to our Resort. The Break Water resort had private access to the beach which I found very cool.We couldn't swim due to the sharp dead corals which prove risky, but the view was good.A small introduction to Neil Island,it has a population of 6000 people. It is one of the most safest places in India with not a single house or hotel having a compound wall. So safe that shop owners didn't lock anything but just closed the shop door. We didn't even have to lock cycle anywhere but just park wherever we want.So if you are looking for inner peace and quietness Neil is the best place for you to visit.I...
